The aims set out for the study of Science include:

  • Developing scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics
  • Developing understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them
  • Equipping pupils with scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implication of science, today and for the future.

Pupils are encouraged to take an interest in science and its relevance to our daily lives.  Where possible science issues are investigated through first-hand experiments and using a multi-media approach.  Opportunities are given to focus on global issues such as waste, green energy, pollution which have a scientific basis but can also be explored through a cross-curricular approach.
